Error of Dates

My parents and I were supposed to attend a Piano Recital by a Japanese Artist this evening. I was to come home early from my evening swim at the nearby swiming pool, but since I was late, they went ahead on their own. The Show was to start at 6:30pm. They were back quite early and were very quiet...nothing about how I missed a great show...nothing...quite strange. Anyways, we went out to dinner later...it was there that I found out that the Piano recital is actually TOMORROW...and they were an entire day late...he he ha ha ha..

The Doggie outside 89.5 FM in Cambodia

I have been to many radio stations around the world. This is the first time I actually felt like taking a picture and posting it on my blog. These three little puppies were just so cute...and the mom who initially barked her heart out when we got there was as peaceful as a dog in deep sleep...there you go...89.5 FM Cambodia.

This is the coolest lawn mower i have ever seen..

You know one of the cool things about Cambodia is the way they use Motors and Generators. You know if you just walk around town, you will see how you can employ innovation to cut costs. In this photograph you can see a lawn mower. Bacially it is a home made solution to cut grass. It has old cycle tyres, an old motor and the moving part of the motor is connected to a blade that evenly cuts the grass. Although this is a home made solution, there are off the shelf versions as well. They usually cost about Rs. 4000...not bad actually...but then again...you can bargain till the cows come home...and if they cows are home early, you won't need a lawn mower...ha ha.

Landing in Cambodia

After spending about 3 minutes in Bangkok I landed in Cambodia. I had to change all my travel plans because of the Coup. Later we were to find out that it was not as bad as the TV and Newspapers had said it would be. Anyways I landed in Cambodia went through all my Visa formalities and then got out of the airport. The instructions to the cab driver were to look for the only Indian who would come out of the airport. As luck would have it, there was one chap waiting at the airport to recieve a guest for a hotel in the city and he kept following me and showing me the name card trying to convince me that he was waiting for me. The poor fellow would have been told the same thing as well...Look For the Only Indian at the Airport. But...nope...that was some Banerjee Chap who was to be picked up as well...but I do not think he came on the flight with me...I would have noticed...I was kind of convinced to act like I had amnesia and say..."Oh Yes, I am Mr. S Banerjee...were you waiting for me long?" But luck would have it that my Driver came there just in time to prevent my Melodramatic Amnesia Fit at Pochentong International Airport in Phnom Penh.

I get into town...and what do i see?

When your plane lands and you are handed a newspaper with the following headlines...you NEED to reconsider the holiday you are planning there. "Coup D' Etat"Now I have learnt about the term in History, Civics and French...but never really seen the term as headline in the country I am in. Well the Armed forces and the national police have taken over the government in Thailand hours before I landed in Bangkok...and the Bangkok Post Says it best... 'Coup D'Etat' French for "No Shopping PLEASE Thank you."

Battling Bangkok's rush hour traffic...

Now...I was hoping I would be battling Rush Hour Traffic in Bangkok and trying to get to my hotel room and then have a nice hot shower...but instead at 7:20 in the morning I find myself in a bus between the Airport Terminal and the Plane that is leaving for Phenom Phen, Cambiodia in 20 minutes...Damn...no Bangkok...no 3 lovely days there...no...SHHHOOOOPPING....
So if I come back to India without any presents for you...BLAME IT ON THE COUP.

That's all i see of Bangkok

The last time was came to Bangkok the left engine of the Plane blew up and we had to go to Singapore instead. I was hoping that 6 years later I would finally check out the shopping in Bangkok. My luck did not side with me. Over night there has been a Coup in Thailand and I have had to change my travel plans...there goes the shopping...the shopping...and ya...the shopping.

Waiting lounge at Bangalore International Airport

At the start of a very long journey...I am sure this holiday is going to be quite an adventure. I am looking forward to the break and spending time with my folks...as well as checking out the shopping in Bangkok. The book I am reading is actually about the Andaman and Nicobar Islands...
